Time: Monday mornings 9:30 – 12:30

Studio location: Studios B

$125.00 for six weeks. Each class is 3 hours.

Welcome to “Painting with Patrick”. These painting sessions are open to beginners and also to those that have been painting for some time that would like to go to the next level. I use oil paints for my demonstration paintings as well as my studio paintings, but feel free to use acrylic paints if you prefer them

During the first class, I will begin a new painting in front of the class. This will include  a demonstration showing how to begin a painting. Also discussed will be  elements that make a painting more pleasing to the eye (composition) , the mixing of colors, drawing (how to transfer your image to the canvas) and basic brush technique .  Each additional class over the six week period will begin with a painting  demonstration  where I will take the painting started the first week and take it to the next level. The remainder of the class time will be spent with the art group painting, where I will be available to answer questions and help with  problems. The subject matter of the paintings I demonstrate vary from month to month but include Florida landscapes, Seascapes, Island cottages, Tropical foliage, and Still life.
The art students can bring in a photo  that they would like to paint, a painting already started , or they can paint the same painting along with the instructor as I complete the painting over the six week period.

Seating is limited, please contact me to register

Patrick Rausch

Patrick was born in West Palm Beach, Florida when it still had a small town flavor surrounded by tropical and ocean settings. Numerous  visits since childhood  to the Florida Keys and years of diving and sailing the Florida coast and Bahamas along with having a home in the Ocala National Forest   have had a strong and lasting influence on the subjects he chooses to paint.

From beautiful cloud formations at sunset, to a quaint cottage in the Keys, to tranquil back country landscapes, to soothing seascapes, he captures a feeling that relates to the beauty around us which is often missed in the fast paced world we live in.

His art journey began in childhood with an irresistible  desire to draw. This was followed by color pencil work which eventually led to oil paints. The use of a limited palette of six colors   helps create more unity within his paintings. By painting subjects he is familiar with and that strike an inner emotion , he feels he  can be more honest with his work.

Patrick has been sharing with others what others have shared with him and teaching those with desire to paint for over 10 years. He currently lives in New Smyrna Beach and teaches classes at The Artist Workshop.
