Description:
What is quilling? Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped and glued together to create intricate and decorative designs. Joni will teach the basics of paper quilling and lead students in making decorative gift boxes. All you need is the desire to learn! Students will take home their creations at the end of each class.

Artist Bio and Description of Art Work
As a native of Miami, I grew up surrounded by the natural, tropical beauty that exists in South Florida’s paradise. The appreciation for the blue skies, brightly colored flowers, clear aqua-marine ocean and graceful palm trees became ingrained in my DNA. I retired after working 34 years as a Graphic Illustrator at the National Hurricane Center, relocating to my new home in New Smyrna Beach. I love everything about coastal living and now have the freedom to pursue my art, in whatever form I wish to.
My previous professional experience along with my Florida-sensibilities, sets the background for all of my art. My art reflects my love of tropical flora and fauna that is drenched in vivid color, clear and bright. Constantly honing my craft, my art continuously evolves, from working in the graphics field, working in various formats and mediums, including with computers as well as hand-drafting, to painting in both watercolor and acrylics, and with various other mediums. Fascinated by the idea of working with color-rich papers and combining my graphic arts expertise (typography), I discovered Paper Quill Art. This quickly became my new passion. After several years of experimenting, testing and perfecting this self-taught technique, I found the vibrancy of this art form draws on all of my past experience, culminating in a new and exciting way. And, it fulfills my sheer passion to create.
