Instructor Bio
Linda Fraser is a Kingston-based ceramicist and multi-media artist who operates The Garden Studio. With a creative philosophy rooted in the joy of “playing with mud,” Linda balances the technical precision of pottery with a whimsical, nature-inspired aesthetic.
Her work is driven by a deep fascination with the entire ceramic process—from the initial manipulation of clay shapes to the complex chemical compositions of glazes and the transformative power of kiln firing.
Key Artistic Highlights:
- Her portfolio ranges from utilitarian pieces (mugs, trays, and bowls) to sculptures and non-functional “whimsical” pieces designed to “brighten dull days and lift heavy hearts.”
- Linda draws on her farming background to create functional wares that celebrate the connection between the land and the experience of sharing food.
- Beyond her private studio, she is an active member of the Kingston artistic community, teaching at the Kingston Potters’ Guild and Amaranth Stoneware.
- While clay is her primary focus, she is a versatile maker with experience in stained glass, watercolor, and silk painting.
“My biggest compliment is when someone smiles as they look at one of my pieces. Words just can’t describe that feeling when you first see a piece and fall in love.”
— Linda Wolfram-Fraser
