Ready to have some fun with COLOR? Join Sally for a playful, creative workshop where you’ll kick those boring colors to the curb and learn how to make your paintings POP, sparkle, and come alive!

Color is one of the most powerful tools an artist has—and it can also be one of the most fun! Together, you will experiment, mix, play, and discover how color can completely transform your paintings. This workshop is all about color, design, creativity, and YOU! You’ll learn how to make bold color choices, create exciting color combinations, and add more personality and energy to your artwork.

What We’ll Explore:

Day 1: Let’s Play with Color!
Students will get their creative juices flowing with fun, hands-on color
exercises. You’ll experiment with: 

• Mixing and choosing color
• Complementary colors
• Tints, tones, and grays
• Understanding values
• Creating color harmony
• Making colors work together to create excitement and energy
You’ll be amazed at how much fun you can have with just a few colors!

Day 2: Let’s Paint!

Now it’s time to put all that color knowledge to work! You’ll take what you’ve learned and jump into a painting, experimenting with exciting color combinations and applying the principles of color theory and design. Sally will guide you through a step by step painting that is vibrant, dramatic, expressive, and uniquely YOU. There are no boring paintings allowed!

Meet your instructor

Sally Evans

Sally holds a BFA in Graphic Design and Fine Art from the University of South Carolina. She began her career as a graphic artist before transitioning into a full-time painting practice in the early 1990s. Known for her expressive use of color and bold, dynamic design, Sally’s work spans plein air landscapes, figurative painting, and vibrant portrayals of dogs and animals. She works in pastels, acrylics, and mixed media, capturing movement and emotion with energy and heart.

Among her most recent accolades, Sally was featured in Slaying Orlando, a book highlighting
her life and work alongside 23 other female entrepreneurs making a meaningful impact. The
Chicago Weekly named her one of their Top 10 Visionary Artists for 2025, recognizing her for
pushing creative boundaries and inspiring change. Blick Art Materials also featured her painting
Lilies Dance in Light in a national advertising campaign in 2019.

Sally’s work is currently featured in the US Airways Club at Tampa International Airport. Her paintings have also been exhibited internationally, including a showing at the American Embassy in Rome through the U.S. Department of State’s Art in Embassies Program in 2001. Over the past decade, her work has been selected as featured art for numerous Florida art festivals. Notable highlights include Santa Fe Poppies gracing the cover of Tampa Bay Magazine (September–October 2002) and her painting Bella and Bentley being featured in The New Barker magazine in Spring 2011.

Her work has been exhibited in several prestigious national exhibitions, including Elements of
Expression (New York, NY, 2013), the National Society of Casein and Acrylic Painters Exhibition
(New York, NY, 2016), the International Society of Acrylic Painters Florida Exhibition (2017,
Honorable Mention), the Pastel Society of America Exhibition (New York, NY, 2017), and Acrylic
Painters USA (2018).

Sally’s work has been featured in numerous art festivals throughout Florida, including the Winter
Park Autumn Art Festival. Her art is collected by celebrities, and her lithographs have appeared
on the television series Nip/Tuck as well as in the films American Dreamz and Rob Reiner’s
Shock and Awe (2017).

Sally is a signature member of Acrylic Painters USA, Associate member of Pastel Society of
America and The National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic.
