Hello everybody! I hope you all had a chance to come out and see the wonderful art created during the NSB Paintout 2 weeks ago. A wonderful group of 27 artists created a total of around 200 paintings of the beautiful scenery in our area, with lots of sales during the week. If you missed it, ask participating AWI members Cathy Berse, Christophe Cardot, Scott Hiestand, or me about the experience! Next year's paintout is marked for the first week of December. Mark your calendars! There are two exhibits currently going on that our AWI members are participating in. 1. At the Peabody in the Rose Room Art Gallery there is a new exhibit called "Absolutely Abstract". The curator emailed a group of local artists that are all members of the Artists Workshop if they would be interested in showing their different ideas and styles of abstract art. Some lean more towards landscapes, some cityscapes, and some figurative, so it's interesting to see the different takes on this complex thing we call "abstract art". Cheri Erdman, Sharon Harrell, Kathy O’Meara and Kitty Parfet started in summer 2016 to share a working studio on Turnbull Bay Road in NSB. Betty Parker is well-known and has been a president of AWI years ago. The other two artists exhibiting are Carson Kapp and Gretchen Nass. Let's support our fellow members and see their exciting work at the Rose Room. The dates for the Abstract show are November 7, 2017 - January 2, 2018, free entry. The opening reception is November 8, 2017 from 5:30 - 7:30 and hors d'oeuvres and wine are provided, along with free entry. More Info: The Rose Room at The Peabody, 600 Auditorium Blvd, Daytona Beach, Gallery Hours: M - F, 10:30 - 4:00, www.peabodyauditorium.org 2. The other exhibit features artwork by members Lisa Argentieri and Michelle Davidson. It is also free and open to the public at Daytona State College and runs Oct 9-Nov 6. The Fine Arts Gallery is located at the college grounds in Building 520. Please contact Viktoryia McGrath at 386-506-3599 for more information. Lots of stuff happening! Support your fellow artists and make an afternoon/evening of it!
